TEACHERS
ANYA TARABOULSY | FOUNDER
Since discovering Acroyoga in 2015, while admiring it on the green at the Original Muscle beach in Santa Monica, it has become an integral part of her life and happiness. Anya's greatest passion is to share hers with others and introduce new people to acro.
Her biggest regret was never going to summer camp as a child, but one thing acro has taught her, is that it's never too late to play like a kid, so she decided to organize Acrocamp to make all her childhood dreams come true.
DAVID UNG
David Ung is a full time yoga and acroyoga teacher in Toronto. He loves movement of all forms and takes particular interest in partner and group movements. He founded Acroyoga360, the first acroyoga teacher training in Toronto, in 2016. When he's not teaching he performs duo acrobatics and takes long naps.
ASHLEY MONAGHAN
Ashley is currently pursing a Bachelor of Health Sciences at Queen’s University and has a passion for anatomy and physiology. She is a certified Yoga and CrossFit instructor who values movement and mobility as a means to a healthy, independent life. Working closely with each client to make sure all movements are executed safely and with integrity, she values an educated approach to fitness and always allocates time for mobility, rehabilitation and injury prevention. Ashley incorporates yoga, gymnastics, strength training, kettlebell and high intensity interval training into her own regime and finds this combination of movements to be a solid and necessary foundation. Ashley believes there is no “one size fits all” when it comes to fitness as every personality and body is different, therefore each client requires a customized program. Her diverse background makes her training approach unique.
SANDRA ZIMMERMAN | RYT 200, Pilates Mat Certificate
Having fun while discovering one’s full potential, has always been at the heart of Sandra’s public classes as well as her personal practice. Since completing her teacher training in May of 2011, she has been teaching yoga and acroyoga to kids, teens and adults across the greater Toronto area. Sandra was first introduced to acroyoga during teacher training and soon discovered that this specialized form of partner yoga really fulfilled her need to interact and connect with people on a deeper level as well as nurture them and witness their personal growth. Sandra is very involved in the developing acroyoga community, practicing frequently with other teachers in the area and collaborating with them to spread the joy of this unique and rewarding practice.
BECCA GUSTADT & JONATHAN CANBY @invertcircusarts @theacrovan of the Acrovan
Becca Gutstadt has always loved to be upside down. She was a competitive gymnast through age 13 and a University of Miami cheerleader through her four years of college. She fell in love with Acro Yoga 3 1/2 years ago when she moved from her home of Massachusetts to Austin, Texas, where she began training regularly and eventually started teaching. In June 2015, she left her full time job, and started the AcroVan, in which she traveled the entire country teaching Acro Yoga and acrobatics out of a van packed with circus equipment. She met Jonathan while teaching a workshop in Tulsa with the AcroVan and, after traveling for another year, moved to Tulsa, where they now teach acrobatics, as well as hand balancing, together. Jonathan Canby has a background in board sports, climbing and slacklining. He first started doing Acro Yoga with his daughter 2 years ago, and has since gotten very involved in the community and has begun teaching. He met Becca when she came to Tulsa to teach an Acro workshop with the AcroVan. Enamored, he spent a year chasing her around the country before persuading her to move to Tulsa, where they now teach Acro, as well as hand balancing, together.
