Lift People not Barbells
This workshop is an introduction to Acroyoga which brings together the practices of yoga and acrobatics, performed with a partner or in a group. Acro allows you to explore the mental and physical benefits of working as a group, physical contact and play; a practice that can help build trust and help one let go of inhibitions. This all-level workshop is perfect for anyone new to the practice or anyone looking to deepen and refine their Acroyoga skills.
We will warm up with partner stretches and conditioning. We will then explore standing acrobatic counterbalances as well as L-basing positions and transitions. Using partners and gravity, new ranges of motion, inversions and shapes will be explored, including therapeutic ways of stretching, strengthening and relieving stress.
No experience or partner necessary—just be ready to play!
Acroyoga is physically dynamic and also expands our communication and trust. We work with spotters to ensure everyone is able to explore the poses safely and confidently.
All proceeds from this workshop will go to the West Neighbourhood House Newcomer Youth Program, empowering youth through community and sport.
